The SFL Semi-finals did not disappoint as Angry Beavers came off their one week rest to smack down the Corona Beach Bums 262-230 and prevent the Bums from being the first team with a losing record to reach the Super Bowl.  In the Guts Division, the Dark Lemmings continue their destiny-driven run by shellacking the Jockstraps 339-268.  After a season of weird match-ups, fortunate wins and unexpected rises by bubble teams, the dust now settles with the two league juggernauts facing off in the final game.  Beavers and Lemmings have been far-and-ahead the highest scoring teams (by hundreds of points) this year, so it is appropriate they meet for the season glory.......it's as Tebow intended it to be....

DARK LEMMINGS (9-4, 2-0) vs. ANGRY BEAVERS  (11-2, 1-0)
 

This is the matchup we were looking for.  In 2002, Tyler Klanderud walked away from his former team, GRIZZLY LEMMINGS which he had owned and managed since the inaugural year of the league and won in 1992.  He joined forced with Brad Hansen's DARK KNIGHTS to form the DARK LEMMINGS.  Taking over the former GRIZZLY LEMMINGS was Laurie Kantor who named the team EASY BEAVERS, later renamed ANGRY BEAVERS.  Now, ten seasons later the former Lemmings face the new Lemmings for the marbles.  It would be Klanderud's second championship (first manager to win under two different franchises).  Would be Hansen's first, as well as Kantor's.  Although Klanderud won in 1992, this would be his first with a team drafted by him (Commish drafted team in '92 due to schedule conflict).  So needless to say, this matchup has a lot of backstory.  When these two teams faced each other earlier this year, in week 7, the Beavers prevailed 358-353. Despite both teams patching holes with late season injuries, this looks to be yet another classic battle.  Rightly so, it is also a face-off of the two, hands-down, leading QBs in the league as Aaron Rodgers faces Drew Brees -- fortunate to both SFL teams, these NFL teams still have plenty to fight for.  This looks to challenge the 1993 battle of Andy's Kids and Schaffer's War Dogs (314-283) as the highest scoring SFL Super Bowl of all time!!  It's hard to beat a good team twice but the Beavers are early software favorites.

Reminder  that all waiver claims for non-playoff teams are by lottery.  Playoff teams have priority if they have a NEW injury (players will not be kept for 2012).  All teams need to get their balances current.  Stay tuned for College Bowl scramble, NFL post-season contest and other December games.  All transactions FROZEN following noon Sunday.

HEADSUP FOR 2012: 
1)   Teams currently holding either the Rudy or the Petie must have them in their possession at the draft in order to make a selection for their team -- else selections will be made by league in similar fashion to an absent manager.
2) During the draft, teams will have option to draft a player, pass, or select a division/conference assignment for themselves or another team.  Reassignment may also occur as long as draft continues.  Teams will have to complete the draft with a full team.
3) Ahead of end of year payoff calculations, the team that does not make the playoffs, but scores highest in weeks 11-13, shall win back lower of: 1/2 their league debts, 5% or purse or $50.  This will encourage competition through end of season.
4) All teams will be required to have current managment contact information in the system, an identified decision-maker, and know how to basically operate their team on their own (on the web) prior to draft.  In addition, teams should be prepared to come to the draft with the ability to draft online)
5) League will undertake serious discussion to contract or expand during offseason (more on that next week).
6) Teams will have ability to adjust roster and make moves up until kickoff of individual player games (includes Sun afternoonr and MNF, etc).  But you will not be able to add a player who already started and incomplete rosters will be populated with lowest scoring combination.
7)  Waivers will processed on ko of first game or week (even Thur) and first come afterwards.  Online info makes notification easy.

NOTE:  NEED TEAMS TO DO SOME SOUL-SEARCHING IN THE OFFSEASON.  WE HAVE A COMBINATION OF TEAMS THAT ARE DIE-HARD, BEING NURSEMAIDED, BEING DRAGGED ALONG, READY TO SPLIT CO-MANAGERS, ETC.  A strong league has committed, engaged and self-sufficient managements.  In the last few years I have heard long standing managers discuss stepping down.  Have also heard joined teams eager to go out on their own.  And we also have teams that, despite being the league a few years, are still very dependant on other teams to remain engaged and this does not help a healthy league.  If next year is 10, 12, 14 or 16 teams, they need to be strong teams.  Thing about it and let me know.  Have a Merry Christmas!!!

Angry Beavers were led to their 16 point victory by a 57 point effort from Drew Brees, who beat the Atlanta Falcons defense for 307 passing yards and 4 passing TDs in addition to 9 rushing yards. They also got help from a 54 point effort from Maurice Jones-Drew, who beat the Tennessee Titans defense for 103 rushing yards and 1 rushing TD in addition to 21 receiving yards.

"This is a dream come true," Angry Beavers coach Laurie Kantor said.

Dark Lemmings were helped out in a losing cause by a 48 point effort from Brandon Pettigrew, who got by the San Diego Chargers defense for 80 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD. With this performance, Pettigrew was the number 2 ranked tight end for week 16. They also got help from a 45 point effort from Reggie Bush, who beat the New England Patriots defense for 113 rushing yards in addition to 26 receiving yards.

"Our defense was a non-factor," Dark Lemmings coach Tyler Klanderud said.

Causing further embarrassment, Dark Lemmings could have scored 336 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Tyler Klanderud left key players like Aaron Rodgers and his corresponding 84 points on the bench.

This brings the record for Angry Beavers to 11-2, and drops Dark Lemmings to a record of 9-4.
