The GLFFL changed it's policies concerning BOD trade veto requests this past off-season.  I have been handling all trade veto request in Fantasy Football 4You Leagues.

After looking over the transaction record in the league I see that Eric, the owner of Poisonous Toads, had been shopping the combination of Shonn Greene and Antonio Bryant to owners in exchange for a single WR.  The trade that has received an official veto request was offered by Poisonous Toads to Reigning Steel at this exact time (Sat Oct 24 10:44:29 p.m. ET 2009).  Here is the record from the transactions page:

Poisonous Toads / Reigning Steel Trade Proposal Poisonous Toads offers Greene, Shonn NYJ RB;Bryant, Antonio TBB WR
Reigning Steel for Moore, Lance NOS WR
Expires: Sat Oct 31 10:00:00 p.m. ET 2009
Sat Oct 24 10:44:29 p.m. ET 2009

By Saturday Shonn Greene, rookie RB for the NY Jets was third on the depth chart behind Leon Washington and Thomas Jones and had scored 3.1 so far through 6 weeks of FF.  Antonio Bryant is on a struggling Bucs team and has posted inconsistent numbers since the start of the season with the low being 1.60 points and the high 14.40 points. Bryant was coming off of a 5.70 point performance from week 6 as of Saturday.

Lance Moore has been hurt this season and has missed some time but he seemed to be back in the groove as of Saturday after his 19.80 point performance against the Giants in week 6.

Remember, the trade was offered by Poisonous Toads to Reigning Steel on Saturday.  On Sunday, Leon Washington goes down for the season, Shonn Greene goes off for 144 yeards rushing on 19 carries and scores a whopping 26.40 while Lance Moore has a 3.80 point outing and Bryant scores 13.10 points (his second highest total of the season).

What a difference a day can make.  When the trade is looked on Saturday, the one that Toads offered to Steel was not lopsided and probably wouldn't have even been questioned if it has been accepted on Saturday. Steel didn't accept the trade on Saturday, he did it on Sunday.  Here is the transaction record of when the trade was accepted by Steel:

Poisonous Toads / Reigning Steel Trade Accepted Poisonous Toads gave up Greene, Shonn NYJ RB;Bryant, Antonio TBB WR
Reigning Steel gave up Moore, Lance NOS WR
Expires: Sat Oct 31 10:00:00 p.m. ET 2009
Sun Oct 25 7:19:13 p.m. ET 2009

Toads offers a trade to another owner that he feels will benefit him (no one offers one that they think will truly benefit another owner more than themselves) on Saturday.  He leaves the trade on the block and on Sunday night after Steel Sees what occurred that day he accepted the trade offered to him.  Steel did nothing wrong.  When we propose a trade to another person it's a legitimate offer until we decide to take it down.  Toads did not take it down.  Any owner would likely regret leaving it on the table after what happened on Sunday.

The question is though, is the trade lopsided?  I can't determine that it is.  To judge the trade by the events of one day is not an adequate measuring stick.  What if Moore would have went off and Greene and Bryant would have had average or poor days?  Would the trade have been vetoed then?  What if this scenario happens next week?  What will owners think at that time?  Anything can happen on any given Sunday.  Greene may not go off again for the rest of the season or he may be a monster getting unleashed just in time for Halloween.  Who knows.  When we trade we just make the best deals we can at the time and hope it works out in our favor.  Sometimes it does, sometimes not.  Just like the NFL, only time will really tell the value of this deal.

Timing can be eveything.  Steel took advantage of a deal offered to him at the right time it seems.  Toads didn't react fast enough to revoke a deal he offered.  Based on one fantasy day's performance I do not now determine the deal is lopsided.  Based on all the factor's concerning the history of all the players, I deem it to be an acceptable trade.

Good job Ahmed. I can see your points. Kudos to Steel for reacting at a very good time.

Great job being able to look at the situation objectively Larry. That's take good sense and quite a bit of maturity.
